Nevada Congresswoman and candidate for U.S. Senate Jacky Rosen and State Senate Majority Leader and candidate for Nevada Attorney General Aaron Ford held a roundtable discussion today in Reno with members of the Communications Workers of America (CWA) Local 9413. With hundreds of call center employees in the Reno area currently at risk of losing their jobs because of corporate offshoring, CWA Local 9413 has been integral to fighting for workers’ rights and giving them a voice.
In Congress, Jacky Rosen has fought to penalize American corporations that offshore call center positions, require call center operators employed by American companies but working overseas to declare their location when beginning a call, and require call centers to give customers the option to speak to a call center operator based in the U.S. At the state level, Aaron Ford has been fighting alongside CWA as an advocate for union rights and protecting workers.
“It was a privilege to meet with and hear directly from members of CWA Local 9413, and I look forward to continuing to be an advocate for workers in the U.S. Senate,” said Rosen. “Corporate CEOs are pocketing a massive windfall thanks to the Republican tax law while still trying to lay off Nevada workers and ship their jobs overseas. Hardworking Nevadans deserve a Senator who will fight relentlessly to protect their jobs and their paychecks, and I will be that champion.”
