Nevada has the highest concentration of tipped workers in the country, and Jacky Rosen is backing bipartisan legislation to deliver tax relief on tipped income
This week, Senator Jacky Rosen’s campaign launched a new Spanish-language TV and digital ad, “Ha Estado Allí,” highlighting her own work as a waitress when she was younger and how she’s now working with both parties in the Senate to pass legislation that would eliminate federal income taxes on tips. Nevada has the highest concentration of tipped workers in the country.
Rosen has signed onto the No Tax On Tips Act, bipartisan legislation that would fully exempt tipped wages from federal income tax. Rosen is also urging Senate leaders to include tax relief for tipped workers and broad-based middle class tax cuts in any major upcoming tax reform package next year. For years, Rosen has worked with the Culinary Workers Union Local 226 and demanded that the IRS consult with hospitality workers about fixing their tip allocation rates.
To help all hardworking Nevadans get ahead, Rosen has fought to raise the federal minimum wage, pass the PRO Act to protect workers’ right to form a union and collectively bargain, guarantee paid sick leave and family leave, and improve access to affordable health care. She has also helped introduce legislation to lower taxes for Nevada families by expanding the Child Tax Credit and Earned Income Tax Credit.
