On the first day of the general election, new ad shares the heartbreaking story of a woman forced to leave Texas to seek reproductive care because of the radical anti-abortion law that Sam Brown supported
Today, U.S. Senator Jacky Rosen’s campaign released a new ad, “Valerie,” which shares the story of Valerie Peterson, a woman who was forced to flee her home in Texas to seek vital reproductive care because of a radical abortion ban that Sam Brown supported. Valerie now lives in Nevada and is bravely sharing her personal story about the devastating impact of Sam Brown’s decade-long anti-abortion agenda and warning voters about the threat he poses to reproductive freedom.
This is the Rosen campaign’s first new ad of the 2024 general election. The campaign is releasing a 30-second version of the ad for TV and a 60-second online version.

“No woman should be forced to flee their home state to seek the reproductive care they need, but that’s the heartbreaking reality for women like Valerie because of Sam Brown’s anti-abortion agenda. Nevadans have made clear that they reject politicians who want to take away women’s rights, and our campaign will continue to hold Brown accountable for being a MAGA extremist and a direct threat to Nevadans’ reproductive freedom,” said Johanna Warshaw, Rosen for Nevada spokesperson.
Sam Brown has a decade-long record of supporting extreme, anti-abortion policies, including pushing to ban abortion without exceptions for rape or incest, supporting efforts to overturn Roe v. Wade, and committing to only vote for anti-abortion Supreme Court Justices. Brown also recently served as the Nevada leader of an extreme anti-choice organization. Brown has even said that his anti-abortion views are “non-negotiable” and supported Texas’ extreme abortion ban, which was considered one of the “toughest restrictions in the country.”
The new ad is now running across the state on broadcast and digital.

VALERIE: I was excited to learn I was going to have a boy, but I got devastating news. The baby would not survive.
NARRATOR: Before Sam Brown ran for office in Nevada, he ran in Texas, where he pushed one of the most extreme abortion bans.
VALERIE: Because of the law Sam Brown pushed for, I had to leave Texas to get the care that I needed. Now I live in Nevada, and I can’t watch Sam Brown take away our rights here, too.

VALERIE: I was excited to learn that I was going to have a boy and that my daughters will have a baby brother, but I got devastating news.
My son’s brain was separated from the spinal cord.
The doctor said, “I’m really, really sorry.” Ultimately, the baby would not survive. And the best thing that I could do for my family was to terminate the pregnancy.
And even though I was terminating because of a fetal anomaly, because of the law Sam Brown pushed for, I had to leave Texas to get the care I needed.
Now I live in Nevada, and I cannot watch Sam Brown take away our rights here too.
Sam Brown, you have no idea what I went through, and you have no right to tell a woman what to do with her body.
