Henderson, Nev. – While Donald Trump’s racist comments attacking a Mexican-American federal judge have drawn widespread condemnation even from national GOP leaders, Republican CD3 candidates Danny Tarkanian and Michael Roberson had a different take yesterday.
In a new interview with the Las Vegas Review-Journal, Tarkanian said that “he firmly supports Trump regardless of what was said,” while Roberson opted for silence and “did not respond to phone calls or emails.” Jacky Rosen, Democratic candidate for Nevada’s 3rd Congressional District, released the following statement in response:
“These disgusting attacks on Judge Curiel have no place in our political discourse. But my potential Republican opponents are still rooting for Donald Trump to win the White House this year, and they would empower his dangerous agenda and offensive rhetoric in Washington. Danny Tarkanian has repeatedly made clear he wants to be a rubber stamp for Trump’s divisive policies in Congress, and Michael Roberson continues to give his silent blessing to Trump’s bigoted views by refusing to condemn them. Our community deserves a leader who will stand up against recklessness and extremism in Washington — not enable it.”
