Jacky Rosen Statement on Women’s Equality Day

Henderson, Nev. – Today, Henderson community leader Jacky Rosen released the following statement on Women’s Equality Day, celebrating the 19th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution that gave women the right to vote:

“Today is an opportunity to honor all those who fought so relentlessly to ensure women could become full participants in our American democracy. Their tenacity paved the way for women like me to step up to the plate and run for Congress, and I’m proud to be on a historic ticket with so many other remarkable women up and down the ballot this year. As a woman who started her career in the technology field making less than the men while doing the same work, I know firsthand that the fight for equal rights for women isn’t over yet. In Congress, I will always be a champion for policies that empower women, whether it’s passing the Paycheck Fairness Act, protecting Planned Parenthood and a woman’s right to choose, or supporting affordable child care and paid leave. We need more women in elected office who understand the urgency of these issues and will bring some common sense to Washington.”
