Henderson, Nev. – Today, Henderson community leader and former synagogue president Jacky Rosen released the following statement responding to a blatantly false attack from a super PAC for Washington Republicans about her position on the Iran Deal:
“My position is clear and consistent: if I had been serving in Congress at the time, I would not have voted for the Iran Deal. As I’ve said before, I have grave concerns about the world’s leading state sponsor of terrorism being able to access tens of billions of dollars in frozen assets. At the same time, this is the agreement we have and it would be more reckless and irresponsible to try to rip up this diplomatic effort now. In Congress, I will work to hold Iran’s feet to the fire through the enforcement mechanisms of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action and extend the Iran Sanctions Act to ensure economic deterrents are in place to snap back if Iran violates this agreement.
“I am a longtime AIPAC member and I just spent three years as the President of Nevada’s largest synagogue, so I don’t think anyone believes I don’t know where I stand on this issue. While I stand with Israel, our most important ally in the Middle East, my Tea Party opponent Danny Tarkanian stands with Donald Trump, an erratic demagogue who threatens to slash defense aid to Israel and cut and run from our global allies. I’m the only candidate in this race who will always be tough, smart and thoughtful on national security.”
Rosen’s position is consistent with organizations like AIPAC who were vocal opponents of the Iran Deal and are now focused on ensuring accountability through sanctions.
