Henderson, Nev. – Today, Americans for Responsible Solutions endorsed Henderson community leader Jacky Rosen in her campaign for Nevada’s open 3rd Congressional District.
Former Arizona Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords and Captain Mark Kelly: “Jacky Rosen knows that with freedom comes responsibility, and that we can do more to keep guns out of the wrong hands while protecting the rights of law-abiding gun owners like us. We are proud to support Jacky, a leader who is committed standing up to the Washington gun lobby in Congress and to bipartisan change that will help prevent gun tragedies. In Congress, Jacky will be a champion for the vocal majority of Nevadans who are calling on their elected leaders to do more to reduce gun violence and make our communities safer.”
Jacky Rosen: “I’m honored to have this endorsement from Congresswoman Giffords and Captain Kelly. Like most Nevadans and even most NRA members, I want safe neighborhoods and safe schools for my community. In Congress, I will support common-sense gun safety laws that keep guns out of the hands of dangerous criminals, domestic abusers, the violently mentally ill, and people on the terrorist watch list. My Tea Party radical opponent Danny Tarkanian says he opposes any and all efforts to limit the sale of guns, and he’s against closing the terrorist gun loophole and against universal background checks. Danny’s extreme positions will put people’s lives at risk and do absolutely nothing to address gun violence.”
Tarkanian Opposes Any And All Efforts To Restrict The Sale Or Ownership Of Guns. According to his campaign website, Tarkanian “I believe that the Second Amendment protects our God-given right to armed self-defense and oppose all efforts to restrict this fundamental, individual right. … I oppose any and all efforts to restrict the sale or ownership of guns by law-abiding citizens. We must be vigilant and reject the impulse of so many on the left who attempt to leverage tragedies to erode our Second Amendment rights.” [Tarkanian for Congress, accessed ]
Tarkanian Opposes Question 1 To Expand Background Checks. “Question 1 on the November ballot proposes to expand firearm background checks to private-party sales and transfers. Roughly three dozen NRA supporters, volunteers and field organizers gathered at the campaign office at 6375 S. Pecos Road, near East Sunset Road, for the launch. Republican candidates for Congress Danny Tarkanian and Mary Perry also attended to voice their support for the group’s efforts.” [Las Vegas Review-Journal, 8/09/16]
Tarkanian Bragged About Achieving The Highest NRA Rating. At a July 2016 Sun City Summerlin Conservatives Club meeting, Tarkanian said, “Second Amendment? I can’t believe every place I go they’ll ask that, and I’ve ran 4 times. I’m a full supporter of the Second Amendment. I’m a life member of the NRA, and I got the [“A”-Q] rating which is the highest you can get before someone is not in office yet.”
