Henderson, Nev. — DCCC Chairman Ben Ray Luján today announced that Jacky Rosen, candidate for Congress in Nevada’s 3rd District, has been named to the DCCC’s highly competitive Red to Blue program, emphasizing that the open seat represents a key pickup opportunity for Democrats in 2016. The promising strength of Rosen– as measured by aggressive fundraising, organization and infrastructure goals – increases the likelihood that Southern Nevadans will elect a Democrat to Congress this fall.
“I’ve been proud to call Southern Nevada home for more than 35 years, but our community faces real challenges and I’m ready to take them on. I am grateful for the support and momentum this program will provide,” said candidate Jacky Rosen.
The DCCC’s Red to Blue program highlights top Democratic campaigns across the country, and offers them financial, communications, grassroots, and strategic support. The program will introduce Democratic supporters to new, competitive candidates in order to help expand the fundraising base for these campaigns.
“Southern Nevadans have been misrepresented by extreme Republicans for too long, and Jacky Rosen is the right candidate to fight for her community in Congress. She is off to a strong start and we are excited to work with her to execute a winning campaign,” said DCCC Chairman Ben Ray Lujan.
Nevada’s competitive open 3rd Congressional District is ranked as a toss-up by elections experts. The district, which covers portions of Las Vegas and Henderson, was won by President Obama in 2008 and 2012. Democrats also hold a registration advantage.
