Henderson, Nev. – Today, Henderson community leader Jacky Rosen’s campaign for Congress announced that she raised more than $580,000 for the FEC’s Quarter 3 filing period from the beginning of July through the end of September. In a show of grassroots support, more than 83 percent of donations to Jacky’s campaign during this period were $100 or less. Danny Tarkanian’s campaign is in financial distress – he started the quarter with $161,000 in campaign debt and is currently dark on broadcast television.
“We are thrilled by the outpouring of support for Jacky’s campaign, and we’re confident we will have the resources we need through the home stretch to contrast her positive vision for Southern Nevada with Danny Tarkanian’s Tea Party politics,” said David Furr, Campaign Manager forRosen for Nevada. “It’s no surprise that after so many failed political campaigns and a lengthy history of unpaid property taxes and business ventures gone wrong that Danny Tarkanian’s campaign would be in total financial disarray less than three weeks before early voting starts. While Danny hides from voters and goes dark on TV, Jacky Rosen continues to be in a strong position to win this race.”
Rosen’s campaign is up with a new TV ad this week on her extreme opponent’s dangerous agenda to privatize Social Security and raise the retirement age. A recent poll showed Rosen leading Tarkanian by 7 points in a head-to-head matchup.
Democrats hold a growing voter registration advantage in Nevada’s competitive open 3rd Congressional District, which President Obama won in 2008 and 2012. The district covers Southern Nevada, including portions of Las Vegas and Henderson.
